News Unit Study Guide

Make sure you can answer all of the following questions for your test tomorrow. You do NOT have to turn in these answers they are just to help you prepare for the test.

   - What is a lead? Why is it important in newspaper writing?
   - How long is a lead?
   - How many of the 5W's and H should be used in a lead?
   - What voice should you write leads in?
   - Know the difference between the active and passive voice.
   - What things should avoid when writing leads?
   - What are the 9 different types of leads?
    
3. Review the techniques you can use to Make Every Word in a lead Count.
4. Explain the Inverted Pyramid and all of its parts.
5. Review the Tips for writing Strong Headlines
