Follow the steps below to
learn how to use Tables in Microsoft Word.
- Open a New Blank Document in Microsoft Word.
- Save your document as “soccer schedule lastname”
- Click Insert Tab > Table > Insert Table
- Change the number in the Columns Box to 4
- Change the number in the Rows Box to 12 > click OK
- Put your mouse in front of the first row of cells and
left click to highlight it so your table looks like the picture below.

- Right click and choose Merge Cells. Click anywhere
outside of your table. Your table should look like this now.

- Place your cursor in the first row and type “Boys
Soccer Schedule” in Times New Roman Font, centered, bold, italic, size 28.
Your table should look like this now.

- Place your cursor in the first cell of the second row.
Type “Opponents” in Times New Roman, bold, centered, size 16.
- With the same formatting as step 9 type “Location”
in the second cell, “Date” in the third cell, and “Time” in the fourth cell of
the first row. Your screen should look as follows now.

- Place your Cursor in the first cell of the third row and
type “West Glades” in Times New Roman, size 12, centered.
- Using the same formatting as step 11 type “Forest Glen”
in the first cell of row 4; “Silver Glen” in the first cell of row 5; Sawgrass
in the first cell of row 6; “Lyons Creek” in the fist cell of row 7; “Forest
Glen” in the first cell of row 8; “Silver Glen” in the first cell of row 9;
“West Glades” in the first cell of row 10. Your screen should look like this
when you are finished.

- In the second cell of row 3 type “Home” in Times New
Roman, size 12, centered.
- Using the same formatting as step 13 type “Away” in the
second cell of rows 4, 5, and 6. Type “Home” in the second cell of rows 7, 8,
and 9. Type “Away” in the second cell of row 10. Your screen should look like
this now.

- Complete the Date and Time columns to look exactly like
this picture. Use the same formatting as step 11.

- Place your cursor in front of row 11 and left click to select it. You
screen should look like this

- Right click and choose Merge Cells. Click anywhere
outside of the table and your screen should look like this now.

- Place your cursor in row 11 and right click. Choose
Borders and Shading. Click the Shading tab at the top of the screen.
- On the left side of the shading page change the Fill
Color to
black. On the right side of the page change the “Apply To” box to Cell. Then
click OK. Your screen should look like this now.

- Place your cursor in front of row 12 and left click to select it. You
screen should look like this

- Right click and choose Merge Cells. Click anywhere
outside of the table and your screen should look like this now.

- In the last row type “For more information please call
888-8888” in Times New Roman, size 12, centered, italic. Your screen should
look like this now.

- Right Click in the First Row and choose Borders and
Shading. Click on the Shading tab at the top of the screen.
- On the left side of the screen change the Fill Color to
“White, Background 1, Darker 15%” and on the right side select to apply to
cell and click ok.

Your screen should look like this now.

- Use your mouse and select the Rows 3 -10. Your screen
should look like this.

- Once the rows are selected change the size of the font
to size 16.
- Change the size of the font in Row 2 to size 20.
- Place your cursor beneath the table.
- Go to the internet and find a picture that relates to
soccer.
- Copy and paste the image into your document below the
table. Your screen should look something like this. (It does not have to be
the same picture as this example)

- Click Insert Tab > Header > Blank.
- In the Header type your First and last Name in Times New
Roman, size 12, left aligned.
- Hit Enter 1 time and type today’s Date with the same
formatting as step 32.
- Hit Enter 1 time and type your class period with the
same formatting as step 32.
- To exit the Header double click anywhere in the middle
of your document.
- Make sure you save your document
- Print and turn in your document
- Your final Document should look like this. (Note: your
picture may look different)
