Best Place Flyer
Open a blank MS word document to create a flyer about the your favorite city. Your flyer must include the following 7 items listed below. Use the individual steps listed in red at the bottom of this page to help you.
Follow the Directions below to complete each of the 6 requirements listed above.
1. Title: follow these steps to add a title to your flyer...
Click Insert
Tab >
Word Art. Your screen should look like this when you are finished...

Choose a style of Word Art that you like and click OK. I
chose the style that is in the 2nd row and 5th column above. Once you click
OK your screen should look like this...

Delete the text that says "Your Text Here" and type: The Best Place on Earth is _______ (Note you should actually fill in the blank with what you think the best place on earth is. It can be a city, state, country, or general place, like the beach) For my example I am going to use the city Chicago.
After you have typed your sentence choose a font style and
size. I will be using Impact Font, Size 36. Click OK and your screen should
look something like this now...

Now we are going to edit the title so it is exactly like we
would like it. To do so, Right Click on your word art and choose Format Word
Art. See the picture below.

First we can change the color of the outside line and the
color of the inside of the letter. To do so click the small arrow next to the
color box of the fill section and choose what color you want the inside of
your letters to be. I will choose red. See the picture below...

Now choose the color of the outer line of your letters by
clicking the small arrow next to the color in the line section. I will choose
Blue. See the picture below...

Click OK and the words should change color to match your
selection. Your screen should look something like this now...

Now lets try another style of filling in our letters. Right Click on your Word Art and choose Format Word Art.
Click the small box next to the color box in the Fill
section, and then choose Fill Effects. See the picture below.

Once you have clicked on Fill Effects your screen should
look like this now...

There are 4 types of Fill Effects that you can choose from
by clicking on the tabs at the top of the screen, Gradient, Texture, Pattern,
and Picture. Choose one of the four styles by clicking the tab and selecting
the options that you want. In my example I will put a picture into my text by
clicking the Picture tab, see the picture below...

Then I am going to select a picture that I want to fill in the text with.
(NOTE: if you want to use a picture to fill in your text with then you must
first SAVE the picture to your computer.) Once you find your picture click the
Insert button. see the picture below...

Once you have selected your fill effects style Click the OK
button on the top right of the window, and then OK in the bottom right of the
second window. You should see your text change to the style you chose. Your
screen should look something like this now...

Now we can resize and move our Title to where we want it.
To do so Right click on the Word Art and choose Format Word Art. Then click
the Layout Tab in the top middle of the window, and choose Tight. and click
OK. See picture below...

Now you can move your Title and Resize it to where you want
it to be. In My example I made mine taller and a little wider. see picture
below...

Finally, If you want to change the shape of the Word Art
you can do so by clicking the Format Tab under Word Art Tools at the top of
the screen, and then clicking the word art shapes button and choosing the
shape you want.

Choose a shape that you like. see picture below...

Your Title will now take the shape that you selected. In my
example I chose Can Up. Your page should look something like this now...

2. Pictures: Follow these steps to add pictures to your flyer...
First you must go to the internet and find 3 pictures that you want to put on your flyer. Make sure that when you find a picture you want to use you right click on the picture and choose save picture as, to save it to your computer. After you have saved all 3 of your pictures to your computer continue on to step 2.
To add pictures to your flyer, first place your curser on
the page underneath your title. Then click Insert > Picture. Find
where you saved your picture and click Insert. Your page should look something
like this...

Now you must resize your picture to fit on your flyer. To
do so Left Click on the picture and choose theText Wrapping Button at the top of the
window. Then select Tight and click OK. see picture below...

Now grab one of the corners of your picture with the mouse
and drag to resize your picture to a size that will allow you to fit all 3
pictures on 1 page, and then move your picture to where you want it on the
page. Your page should look something like this now...

Now add a minimum of at least 2 more pictures to your
flyer, resize and move them to where you want to be. Your flyer should look
something like this when you are done...

3. Bulleted List: Follow these steps to add a bulleted list to your flyer...
To add a bulleted list to your flyer click Insert Tab > Text
Box > Draw Text Box. You will see your cursor turn into a plus sign. Click down and drag your
cursor to make a box. See the picture below...

Now, with your cursor in the box you created, click on the
Home Tab > Bullets button. see below...

Now type the First of your favorite attractions for your
location and then hit Enter 1 time. In my example the first attraction is "The
Magnificent Mile". See picture below...

Now type your next four attractions the same way you did
the first one. Be sure to hit enter after each one so you get the next bullet.
DO Not hit enter after you type your last attraction. When you are finished
your screen should look something like this now...

Now change the font Color and Style to one that will look
nice with your flyer. Your flyer should look something like this now...

Now change the style of the box by right clicking on the
line of the box and choosing format Text Box. see picture below...

On the Layout Tab choose Tight.
On the Colors and Line Tab, Change the Fill Color to a color you want the background of the box to be.
On the Colors and Line Tab, Change the Line color to a color you want the line around the box to be or choose No Color if you don't want a line around your box.
Click OK and your screen should look something like this
now...

4+5. Paragraph: Follow these
steps to add a paragraph to your flyer...

6. Add your name to the flyer somewhere.
7. If you want to change the background of your page.
8. Turn IN your flyer to the tray in the front of the room :)
