Vocabulary Directions: Get a Computer Vocabulary Worksheet from the front of the room and copy down the Vocabulary word, the Definition, the Picture, and then write your own sentence using the word, for all of the Computer Vocabulary Words listed below.

1. Computer - A computer is an electronic machine that takes in data and instructions, works with the data, and puts out information.

2. Cursor - A blinking line or shape on the screen that tells you where the next character will go. 

3. Icon - An icon is a tiny picture on the screen that represents a program, file or folder.

4. Keyboard - A Keyboard is a device used mainly to enter text and number information into the computer

5. Monitor - A monitor is the TV-like part of the computer that you look at to see information.

6. Mouse - A mouse is a pointing device used to control the cursor of a computer.

7. Printer - A printer is a device used to create hard copies of information on a computer.

8. Scanner - A scanner is a device that uses lasers to  read an image and turns it into digital form.

21. CPU - Central Processing Unit, is the brain of the computer.

22. Power Supply - is the electrical box in the computer that gets all of the parts electricity.

23. Motherboard - is the circuit board that ties all other parts together.

24. BIOS - is a small memory chip that reminds the computer to wake up and has its own battery.

25. Modem - Is a basic hardware device that allows computers to talk to each other.
